The Wind Beneath My Wings

I could SO become an artist if I always had someone there telling me what to paint and how to do my brush strokes- haha! My friend Elizabeth and I met up at 'Sips N Strokes' for some drinks/snacks, fun, and a great consolation prize. We both had so much fun creating our angels!
She is going to look absolutely beautiful in my bedroom!!!

I'd go back in a heart beat. Any takers?

Sweet Johnny Taters

Brooksy got his first tastes of baby food this week. The chunker is a bottomless pit for sweet potatoes!!! So far he has had sweet potatoes and bananas and loved them both.
He wasn't too thrilled with the sound of the blender as I made his food, but once he associated it with the deliciousness that came out of it, he was all smiles! Hahaha!

Laser Spectacular!

We had a "spectacular" weekend. Scott took the boys to his parents' Saturday for some visiting. Brooks apparently wasn't very compliant, but Becks LOVED playing with his Uncle Brandon.
Then on Sunday, we met up with some of my girlfriends at Stone Mountain for a picnic and the Laser Show. Beckham had fun climbing the rocks with Olivia and her friend Madison.
We ate some good food and had fun visiting. The boys even got in a 'little' football with Beckham's rockin' Lightning McQueen ball.
The heat was unreal and didn't let up at all after the sun went down. When we got to the park, it was upper 90's to low 100's and humid. Ugh! But it was well worth enduring it for the experience :)
Beckham and I walked down to the little pond directly in front of the mountain and he says, "How are we going to cross it? I need to climb that mountain!" He also got to see the train pass by 3 times. You've never seen a more excited little boy!
Anne even brought glow stick bracelets for everyone. Beckham was so wired from the day that he was still awake when we pulled in the driveway at midnight!

In other news, Beckham has said some hilarious things this weekend I found necessary to share:

When I got home from work both mornings this weekend he says (with open arms), "Give me a hug!"

When I woke up from my nap Sunday morning he says, "Mommy! I'm so glad to see you!" And he said it again to Brooks yesterday when he got done eating lunch.

While we were watching Monsters, Inc. he says, "She's SOOO pretty!" in reference to Celia- the monster with the snake hair. I asked him if he looooved her, and he said, "yeeeees!" Hahaha!

And due to the excess of Dora the Explorer that he has been watching, he was walking around yesterday counting in Spanglish:"cinco, six, seven, ocho". Awesome!

Poolside with the Boots

We finally made it over to Lilburn for some quality time with my sister and her kids. Beckham had a blast!!! It was so good to just sit and talk to my sister. Love you guys!

Our Newest Shar pei

Long Time No See, Cuz

My cousin Cheyenne stopped through town on her way home from another cousin's funeral. We went over to Mom's house to give all the kids a chance to play together and for us to visit some.
The girls had spent the night with Mom and were all decked out in her costume jewelry. So elegant :)

We tried to get a shot of all the kids together. Wow! Talk about a struggle. And this is the best shot we could get.
We also wanted a shot of the 4 of us, but since Riley and Brooks couldn't be consoled without their mommies, it was a shot of all 6 of us :)

I really enjoyed my time with Chey. We also hit the pool and had some good chats while she was here. I only wish I saw her more often and for longer periods of time. Love you, Chey!!

Oh, Brother!

I'm so proud of Scott. The little chicken has been scared of taking both boys out, so he's avoided it like the plague. But this weekend, while I was sleeping, he took both boys to the park and Chick-fil-a and survived!
We now have 2 finger suckers :) Brooks likes to gnaw on the same fingers that Beckham sucks, but he LOVES his thumbs. He covers his whole face with his hand while he sucks- ADORABLE!

We've also gotten in the habit on going on walks in the evening. Beckham walks so he tires out a little. Its been fun discovering what a little game ranch our neighborhood is. We point out birds, chase rabbits, and Scott and the boys got to see deer cross the street.

Beckham-zilla

In Hot-lanta, it is impossible to take a 4 month old and 2-1/2 year old out in the smoldering heat every day. Instead, we've been either stuck inside, at the library, or at the pool. I've had one stir-crazy little Beckham on my hands. Here are some of the things he's gotten into. . .
Daddy bought "fireworks" for the fourth of July. Becks was fascinated with them. He wanted to light sparklers every chance he got for about two weeks. I think he's finally forgotten about them.
He discovered that he can stand on the Bumbo to climb in the pack-n-play, stand on his potty to climb over the gate at the bottom of the stairs, and stand on storage containers to climb in Brooks' crib. Oh, joy!!
He wants to "make play-do" every day.
And, as usual, he is full of hilarious (though often defiant) things to say. He has all of his books memorized, including the authors and illustrators. I don't know why, but Scott and I think this is too funny. Out of the blue, I have become "Mom". Not sure if I'm lovin' this one :( He has discovered toddler crack, a.k.a Dora the Explorer. He also know we have 'On Demand' and he can watch her whenever the heck he wants. Not lovin' that so much, either- haha!

He was doing really well with bed time for a while, but since the summer boredom struck, he has been rebelling naps and getting out of bed again at night. Ahhhh! We tried to just go without naps this weekend and see if it resolved anything. He slept really well Sunday night, but we had a VERY grouchy little boy on our hands.

Needless to say, I am very much looking forward to August 16th, his first day of preschool. I think he is going to THRIVE! He is so ready to learn more and interact with other kids more regularly. He already knows his alphabet, colors, shapes, animals, etc. And he can spell his name. Can't wait to see what other things his little sponge absorbs at school.

A Month in the Life of Brooks

I have no idea where the past month has gone, but here are some things that have happened. . .
Brooks now eats a serving of rice cereal a day. Big boy!!!
His favorite things to do are sit in his Bumbo (and make poo-splosions), jump in his Johnny Jumper, swing, or just have some good old fashioned floor time. He is in the process now of trying to roll over.

We went to his 4 month check-up yesterday. He is in the 95th percentile for weight at 17 pounds 12.2 ounces. He is 25 inches long. He put on quite the show for the doctor, showing her how he wiggles, giggles, and talks. He also has his 2 bottom teeth as close to the surface as possible without popping through. I can't believe he is growing SO fast!!!

He absolutely LOVES bath time. But the second he comes out of the tub, he wants milk and his bed. Following the water theme, he has grown to love the swimming pool. He goes in for about the first 30 minutes we're there then takes a nap in the shade the rest of the time.

Brooks is a happy baby. As some of you have witnessed, he sounds like a cat fight when he cries, but the mere sound of his laugh cancels that out. His laugh started out one of the most hysterical sounds we'd ever heard. It sounded similar to the man with the froggy voice from 'Water Boy'. He has since found his voice and started squealing instead of "huh-huhing".
